FREDERICK STREET IS NOW CLOSED AS ROAD CONSTRUCTION WORK CONTINUES ACROSS COACHELLA

Post Date:07/09/2015 10:56 AM

Frederick Street is now closed from the intersection of Avenue 54 to Scarlet Way in Coachella as a major road construction project gets underway.

Most of the roadwork will involve the reconstruction of Avenue 54 from Van Buren to Harrison Street.

"Traffic will be moving slower than normal along Avenue 54 until January when various sections of Avenue 54 will be closed for construction," said Public Works Director Maritza Martinez. "It may be best to find alternative routes."

Construction speed limit signs are in place and will be enforced to ensure the safety of the construction zone.

On May 13th, the Coachella City Council a contract for the amount of $2,938,000.00 plus a 10% construction contingency to Granite Construction Inc. for the Avenue 54 Street Improvement Project. The project improvements will include stamped concrete islands, a new 12-inch city water line, a CVWD pipe line relocation, new storm drainage, dry wells, a curb, gutter and sidewalk.
