Coachella Valley Senior Center to Host

10th Annual Senior Wii Bowling Tournament

COACHELLA, Calif. (July 18, 2018) – Seniors from across eastern Riverside County will put their skills to the test in the 10th Annual Senior Wii Bowling Tournament at the Coachella Valley Senior Center.

Following months of practice, senior centers from Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Desert Hot Springs, Palm Desert, La Quinta, Indio, Thermal, Mecca, and Blythe select a team of top players to compete against the defending champions in Coachella for bragging rights.

“This is one of the biggest events of the year not just for seniors here in Coachella, but at all of the area senior centers,” said Coachella Valley Senior Center Coordinator Maria Arcos. “We are proud to participate in this friendly competition and welcome all of the teams and their supporters to the Coachella Valley Senior Center.”

The annual event for those ages 55 and up began in 2008 as a way for seniors from different communities to interact with one another.

In addition to the providing a fun outlet for seniors, the virtual bowling tournament offers health benefits from light exercise and improved balance.

“This really is a win-win activity,” Arcos said. “Our seniors stay active while having a lot of fun at the same time.”

The Coachella Valley Senior Center team won the 2017 tournament and has taken the title four times since it was established.

The tournament starts at 9 a.m. Thursday, August 2, at the Coachella Valley Senior Center, 1540 Seventh Street, Coachella, CA 92236. For more information, contact Coachella Valley Senior Center Coordinator Maria Arcos at (760) 398-0104.
