Household hazardous waste collection event set for Saturday

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE COLLECTION EVENT SET FOR SATURDAY

 

 

 

            COACHELLA, October 2014 — A free household hazardous waste collection and paper shredding event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Bagdouma Park Swim Center parking lot at 51-521 Bagdad Avenue.

            This will be an opportunity for local residents to dispose of used oil and filters, antifreeze, auto batteries, latex and oil base paint, flourescent light tubes and bulbs, pesticides, cleaners, TVs and computers, electronic waste and Sharps, which are medical syringes.

            Each load shall be limited to a total of 125 pounds. However, multiple trips are allowed. Containers with gasoline will not be returned. Residents will also be allowed to bring up to two standard size boxes of paper for shredding.

            The collection event is limited to household items. Medical and infectious waste, explosives and ammunition, asbestos and radioactive waste is not allowed. No business, non-profit, government or out of county waste will be accepted. Residents and businesses will be expected to show proof of local residency.
