The Crime Analysis Section provides operational support that maximizes the effectiveness of the Community Oriented Policing (COP) strategies for each station division.
The analyst ensures that the Patrol Division receives timely operational information for prevention and apprehension efforts.
The Investigation Division receives critical investigative information on crime patterns, suspect modus operandi (M.O.), cross-case analysis, and status of known offenders (e.g. parolees, probationers, sex registrants) in relationship to committed crimes. This information reduces duplication of effort, increases solvability potential, increases the recovery of stolen property, and expedites the arrest of offenders and case closures.
The Administrative Division receives statistical information necessary for the deployment of station personnel, resource allocation, City Council reports, and budgeting.
The Crime Analysis Section provides mobile support by using the Crime Analysis Response Team vehicles at various types of field operations such as parole/probation/warrant sweeps, officer involved shootings, and other specialized programs.
Additionally, the Crime Analysis Section provides information and support to the Central Homicide Bureau, and various other specialized task forces operating in the Coachella Valley such as RAID (CHP Regional Auto Theft Interdiction Detail), CVNTF (Coachella Valley Narcotics Task Force), and the CVGTF (Coachella Valley Gang Task Force).
