The Director of Community Development manages the day-to-day activities of the Community Development Department. In addition to providing staff support to the Planning Commission, the director is responsible for current and advanced planning.

The department:

  • Meets with prospective developers to explain City codes and to review proposed projects
  • Relays information to the public
  • Reviews building permit applications for compliance with the City code
  • Plan check working drawings for the same purpose
  • Enforces the zoning code
  • Reviews and prepares Initial studies, negative declarations and EIR's
  • Assists in the processing of development applications through City departments, Planning Commission and City Council
  • Checks of business license inspections
