Van Buren Street Closure Road Widening Project
Van Buren Street between Avenue 48 and Avenue 49 will be CLOSED as of Monday morning September 23rd at 05:00AM. Van Buren will reopen to the Public on October 4th. Northern closure is located at Avenue 49 and Van Buren. Southern street closure is located at Van Buren and Avenue 48. Residents residing on Van Buren will have access to their properties at all times from the North. Construction Detour will be a maximum of 10 working days. The City has directed the contractor to use all means possible to limit the number of construction days, re-opening Van Buren as soon as possible.
Changeable Message Boards and Detour Routes will be posted seven days in advance. North bound traffic at the intersection of Van Buren at Avenue 49 and will turn right toward Caesar Chavez Blvd. South bound traffic on Van Buren at Avenue 48 will turn Left or Right Detour to Cesar Chavez or Calhoun Streets. Van Buren Street will be closed and physically blocked with Traffic Control devices. Commuters are advised to follow Posted Detours.
Rancho Las Flores will remain open through out construction. Residents living in the construction area will have access to their property at all times, however there will be periods of delay. Type III Barricades will be placed with “ROAD CLOSED TO THRU TRAFFIC” at the Intersections of Van Buren and Avenues 48 and Avenues 49. Road widening will consist of the removal and replacements of existing road way, construct new curb and gutter, and drainage improvements.
